Citrodays 2025

We had an awesome long weekend with Maudette in the “Alternative Universe” at Lac Du Der in France! It was sensational, I continuously had the feeling we are not in the current time line, cruising around on the lovely roads near the lake and everywhere seeing amazing old Citroens was really something special.

Made the photo while we were packing the car 😀 before the journey.

Started the journey at 1.00 AM Friday, with the idea to avoid both the heat and the traffic along the Spanish and French coast, and arrive sometime on Friday to the Citrydays location. It was a very good idea, luckily my experience of working at night for many years simply paid off once again. While I was driving on the mostly empty road, husband had the chance to nap almost all the way. When the daylight hit, (and my Vampire genes from Transylvania kicked in) we switched and continued toward the destination.

We arrived first to the gathering point, got our bracelet and stickers for the car, a little welcome bag with a book, and headed to the camping area, which was a bit further away.

Installed the tent and went up to the hill to see the cars already displayed. More about the tent later 😀

We meet some new people, hopefully we even made some friends.

Saturday was the peak of the event, there were a lot of cars…. a lot of things happened, but not knowing a word of French was a bit difficult to participate. No problem, we still had great time.

We had the chance to meet Henri-Jacques Citroën in person 😀 was the highlight of the day when it turned out he speaks Spanish LOL…  So we had a few words and made a photo. Amazing memory for sure.

Initially we had the idea to remain for the full day of Sunday, but we decided to hit the road and go visit our good friends in France, near Limoges.  Where I had the very difficult task to choose between these amazingly beautiful decorative bowls made by our dear friend Steve!

On the way back we took the “upper road” (that’s how we call it, but basically toward San Sebastian, and “down” from there on the Autovía Mudéjar. Usually this highway is less crowded. It was a good decision, and while we still wanted to have a stop near Bordeaux, “duty called” (work) and had to rush the return so we are able to work next day.

We hit this beautiful number with Maudette:

The weather was absolutely brilliant for the journey back, about 19ºC all the way.

Maudette was absolutely perfect once again, with a total of  2800+ km of amazing travel.  Today she was off for an oil change as next week there is another road for her!

Ah and the stickers… well she was injured, so of course we had to bandage her!  Btw. everything is pretty much closed in August, the closest we can get a quote for fixing the car will be sometimes in September.

About the tent…  No idea how and where but we managed to loose a tent. It was a normal, 3 person tent we used it before but it´s either very well packed or misplaced, we searched for it for 3 days.  So we went to Decathlon to get a new tent. I researched before and my choice was the  Quechua MH100 Fresh. Figured it´s summer, very hot in France, so ideal tent.  Based on the previous adventures in summer with tent, I didn´t even considered bringing sleeping bags with us. We had some very large microfiber towels to cover up,  only used for this purpose and every previous time was more than enough in summer.  Not here… Turns out this tent is indeed FRESH, and was so fresh that at 4AM I woke up freezing LOL.  Luckily we had some warm clothing in the car, to survive the night, but next day we went and bought a big warm blanket :)))

So yes, tested, this tent is indeed FRESH :)) a tiny bit of wind and it cools down instantly. Good choice but have to be mindful about the capabilities of keeping itself cool 😀
