I am with a lot of lag in posting about the adventures with the Citroen C6 called Maudette… I don’t even know how to catch up, so I will just tell one of the latest ones… This year, 2025 we had scheduled an oil pump change. Maudette had the old version, without the reinforcement, and we wanted to have the piece of mind that it’s changed. The pump was already purchased a while back, but we found out about the old pumps construction weakness after the timing belt was changed. We found out by accident and thanks to the videos posted on LR time… One of the biggest issues with the old pumps was a lack of reinforcement on one screw that could break in time…
Since our car had over 215.000 on the clock, we dediced to schedule the oil pump replacement before the new long journey.
The car was bought in the shop at the beginning of april, as we planned to go away at the end of the month.
The oil pump change was a bit tricky, but since the mechanics at AutoPla are really good, they figured out how to properly install it. After a few shorter test drives in the vecinity we packed the car and headed to another long trip…
We tested the “time to sound change” with the new oil pump. This test is basically a morning test, after the car was resting for a night, and the measurement is how much time passes from the ignition to the change in how the engine sounds. With the new pump it was about 2 seconds, so now we are a bit more relaxed, hoping that it will run for many many years!
