To keep everybody confused, in the picture is Xavier… but I am going to mostly blab about Maudette… And a bit about Xavier too…
With all the service history in our hand, we kind’a not expected her to break down so soon. The truth is that we wanted to play “make believe” because it was just so good to dream about the many many fault free kilometers 😀 We were not (totally) naive, we were just hopeful, a bit over optimistic that nothing bad will happen with her for a while. But it did.
I still consider this as an unwanted but happy break down, because pretty much can be sure nothing was damaged on the engine. We only drove 50km that day, and nothing to fancy, boring highway to the city and back. The traffic was inexistent, so it was a half an hour drive. We noticed the coolant leak when about to get the car in the garage, and the leak looked impressive. After parking the car, totally deflated grabbed our stuff and was the “nothing to do here till Monday” and left. Next day we went to check the coolant and to my surprise, the level in the expansion tank was about 3 fingers lower than what it supposed to have. The amount of coolant leaking and the amount missing makes me think the issue happened in the very few last minutes of our drive.
With this in mind, we drove her to the mechanic which is about 400 meters, flat, no traffic…
Xavier at this time was already in the shop for a decent general checkup… but the mechanic was super busy this week and haven’t had the chance to do anything but the alternator and battery check which were faulty.
We had 2 errors related to battery and alternator, from which P1527 Alternator charge information fault : Open circuit or short circuit to the plus ( Information de carga alternador Caracterization: CO or CC positivo (+)) is now gone, and we still have P0562 Battery voltage signal : Battery voltage too low ( Defecto sub-tension )
So these being fixed we swapped keys and sadly let Maudette there, but knowing she is in good hands.
