Exciting update for Maudette! She’s sporting a beautiful new roof lining, a fantastic result of the collaboration between Centrul de Estetica Auto and Vanity Kustom. For anyone in the Cluj, Romania, we highly recommend their work!
The first signs of trouble appeared last year when Maudette’s roof liner started to sag. My mind immediately went to Vanity Kustom, whose craftsmanship I deeply admired . We brought the car in for an assessment, hoping to restore its interior beauty. However, their packed schedule and our departure in 3 weeks meant our plans had to wait until this year.
Being a Citroën, Maudette embodies all the charming (and sometimes frustrating) eccentricities of a French car. I admit I was a bit worried about the difficulties her unique design might pose during the roof liner removal. While she certainly had her moments, the process ultimately went smoothly.
The new roof liner presents a subtle color variation from the old, a detail we captured in a comparison photo. Once the D pillar was re-covered with the matching material, the entire interior looked splendid.
Consulting the documentation for roof liner removal, we discovered the necessity of detaching the front door to access the tray. Although the team initially attempted to bypass this step, adhering to the instructions proved to be the correct solution. Another unexpected challenge arose from the roof liner’s exceptionally strong adhesive bond to the roof, creating concern that its removal might deform the metal. Fortunately, no damage occurred.
Some ASMR moment from removing the old roof liner…
We’re thrilled with the superb work and the final result! In fact, we’re already contemplating giving Xavier the same pampering. Thankfully, when we cautiously broached the subject, the crew responsible for the roof liner’s intricate dance of removal and reinstallation assured us they were ready for round two – no trauma sustained! Our next challenge? Getting that car to cooperate.
